Turn your clubhouse TV into a live scoreboard

No LED screen needed. The score, the clock, a celebration for every try or goal, and your sponsors, on the TV in the bar. A volunteer updates it from their phone on the touchline.

Playing now, as it would on the clubhouse TV: a made-up match between Kestrel Vale and Hollin Bridge.

Everything you need is probably already there

Matchlight is the software. The screen can be any TV with an HDMI socket.

A TV

The one in the bar or the clubhouse. Anything that takes HDMI works, and so does a projector.

Your clubhouse TV

A small computer

Something with a web browser, plugged into the TV: an old laptop or a small mini PC tucked behind it.

Mini PC, laptop or similar

Internet

The clubhouse Wi-Fi. It uses very little data, and the scorer uses their own phone signal out on the touchline.

The live score, where people are

Not everyone watches from the touchline. Parents with a coffee, members at the bar, the second team waiting to play: the clubhouse TV keeps them all in the match.

Live, as it happens

A volunteer on the touchline taps the score on their phone, and the TV updates straight away: the score, the clock, sin-bin timers, and a celebration with the scorer’s photo for every try or goal.

The scoreboard: both crests, the score and the match clock

Your sponsors, in front of the bar

Sponsor logos take turns along the bottom of the score, and go full screen at half-time. A clubhouse TV is something new to offer local businesses.

Room to grow

Start with the TV you have. If the club buys an outdoor LED screen later, it shows the same match, and several screens can follow one match at once.

Set up once, in Studio

Add your teams, players’ photos, sponsors and league opponents on a laptop. On matchday, press Start and hand the QR code to whoever’s scoring.

Studio: a team of players, each with a photo, a shirt number and a name

Questions clubs ask

Can it run on a smart TV without a computer?

Some smart TV browsers can show it, but they vary, so we’ll help you test yours. A small computer plugged into the TV always works.

Which sports?

Rugby union and football, for men’s, women’s and junior teams.

Can we show it on more than one screen?

Yes. Several screens can follow the same match, so the bar TV and a pitch-side screen show the same score.

Do we have to install anything?

No. Everything runs in a web browser: Studio on a laptop, scoring on a phone, and the screen on the computer plugged into the TV.
